Considering a TC40 versus a Kubota 3710, and I'm leaning toward New Holland, but it's about 8 inches longer, 10 inches taller and a whopping 15 inches narrower. Does anyone have experience/opinions on how stable this will be on hills? (I live in Appalachia.)

I was looking at a TC33 the other day. I didn't actually measure it, but the rear axle appears to be much narrower than my 790. It also seems to have a higher CG. My 790 measures 60" outside to outside on the R4 rear tires. ....

Did you look to see which way the wheels were dished on the Kubota? I just took delivery of a TC40D a month ago and have kept it on all fours in our hills so far. I bought the NH over the others because I thought that it was a much more up to date machine than the others. I did not have a preconceived preferance of what color the tractor should be. ( I even dislike Ford trucks!) ....

Thanks for the feedback. We have some hills that are pretty steep and I'd like to mow down the briars. BTW, the dimensions I quoted between the Kubota L3710 and the NH TC40 are specs directly from comparing the 2 spec sheets on the tractors. The Kubota just looks more stable to me (maybe cause it looks more like the shape of my old Ford 640)where the Boomers have a triangular shape and definitely sit higher. Unfortunately, there are no roll-over tests or accident statistics for tractors. ....

New Holland's catalog listing of width is measured to the middle of each tire, not to the outside edge. My TC35D with R-4's is just under 6 foot wide at the rear tires. That way the tires will fit inside the path of your 6 foot bucket. I live in VERY hilly country and so I had the r-4s dished out and loaded by the dealer. This gives me almost 7 foot width in the rear. I will have to do something REALLY stupid to ever roll. ....

Wheel base dimensions etc. Frank, thanks for that bit of info. I have found you need to be real careful when comparing specs of different tractors. Marketing sure has a way of twisting info to make their tractor sound better than another. When you don't compare apples to apples the specs don't mean anything.
